To complete this project we are looking for high quality uploads of official releases. Specifically Rips with good Torrent Descriptions including GSpot information and Screen Shots containing anaglyph content. If you can upgrade any current titles please do so.

Know Something We Don't?

Talk about it in the 3D Project thread in Forum. Have we missed one? We want to know about all safe(and unsafe) movies officially released in Anaglyph 3-D. Please provide a link showing the movie was released in Anaglyph on LD, VHS, or DVD.

And massive 1000 credits is offered for uploading quality safe anaglyph rips previously unknown to us.

Note: Just because a movie was released in theatres in 3-D does not necessarily mean it was released in Anaglyph for home viewing.

Foreign Language

By Foreign Language I mean NOT ENGLISH in this instance. Some of these films are available with English subtitles, and some are not. There was very little information on some of these releases, so if one happens to have been dubbed into English, I will double the reward for the English version. I know for a fact all these movies have been released in Anaglyph and are available.

Tips for Viewing Anaglyph Movies

  • Increase the brightness setting on your TV: Due to the red/blue lenses in 3D glasses, a properly configured TV image will appear too dark. Increasing the brightness will compensate for the muted color…slightly.
  • Sometimes severe ghosting is unavoidable with Anaglyph films, however sometimes this can be minimalized by adjusting your TV's picture settings to better match the reds and blues on screen with those of your glasses.
  • Watch 3D movies in the dark: Less ambient light in the room reduces the double-vision or halo effects and increases the perceived brightness.
  • Sit a little closer to the TV and directly in front of the TV: If your television is small, images will come across better if you look at the TV head-on. Sitting a little closer also seems to improve the 3D effects. I recommend sitting five to six feet away from TVs up to 32”, and 6-8'away for TVs over 32”.
  • Red-Cyan glasses are optimal for viewing Anaglyph movies. The cyan is a lighter blue than traditional Red-Blue glasses. AnaChrome 3D Anaglyph glasses enhance the effect even more, provided better quality viewing than Red-Cyan paper glasses. anachromevg2.jpg

History of 3-D Photography and Anaglyphs

“Anaglyph” is derived from two Greek words meaning “again” and “sculpture”.

The idea of stereoscopy actually preceded photography. As early as 1584, Leonardo da Vinci, one of the great scientific artists, studied the perception of depth.

Stereoscopic, or 3-D photography, works because it is able to recreate the illusion of depth. Human eyes are set about two-and-a-half inches apart, so each eye sees an image slightly differently. If you take two separate photographs that same distance apart, with a suitable viewer it is possible to recreate that illusion of depth.

William Friese-Green created the first three-dimensional anaglyphic motion pictures in 1889, which had public exhibition in 1893. 3-D films enjoyed something of a boom in the 1920s. Early anaglyphic films were designated as “plasticons” and “plastigram s.” These used only one strip of film that was coated with emulsion on both sides. The Red image was applied to the front and the green image to the back. In 1922, a novel plasticon opened at the Rivoli Theatre in New York titled “Movies of the Future,” which gave the viewer optional endings. To view the happy ending, one watched through the red filter. The green filter revealed the tragic ending. The term “3-D” was coined in the 1950's. As late as 1954 films such as “The Creature from the Black Lagoon” were very successful.

In 1953, the anaglyph had begun appearing in newspapers, magazines and comic books. The 3-D comic books were one of the most interesting applications of anaglyph to printing. They were invented by comic artists Joe Kubert and Norman Maurer in 1953 using a cell acetate technique with several levels that were opaqued on the back and shifted to produce the left and right eye views. Priced at twenty-five cents instead of the usual dime, the 3-D comics included red and green “space goggles.” When Kubert and Maurer's first book, “Three Dimension Comics,” starring Mighty Mouse, hit the stands it was an instant sell-out.3D History

About WikiTorrents: WikiTorrents is user-created wiki pages of BitTorrent links to movies, music, & more. Pages have a theme, like a category, person, or subject. This site specializes in feature-length videos in "good enough" quality and encoded in XViD / DiVX / MP4 / H.264 / ISO that use public torrents. WikiTorrents links to many trackers and BitTorrent search engines. We welcome links to videos that are mainstream, documentary, artsy, independent, rare, and obscure.

WikiTorrents is not your typical BitTorrent site. WikiTorrents is not a tracker. WikiTorrents does not host torrent files. Torrents are linked in user-created pages that are practical and useful. For example, WikiTorrents links to over 1,000 feature-length documentaries, sorted by category, to assist you in your own personal quest for knowledge and understanding. Our goal is that you will use WikiTorrents for both research and entertainment purposes.

To use a .torrent file requires a BitTorrent app, like uTorrent or Azureus Vuze. To share a .torrent requires a tracker, like OpenBitTorrent. To watch movies requires a media player, like VLC, Media Portal, and ffdshow tryouts.
